Need help naming new baby boy with older brother Ellis

We have a baby boy named Ellis and need a name for his new baby brother.  Would like a strong classic name, maybe starting with M.  What about Theodore (calling him Teddy), Miller, Carter, Max, or Peter?  Any other ideas?  Thanks!

My favorite from your list is Theodore, though it does seem like a different style than most of your other names.  But sibling names don't have to be of the same style.

I would avoid Miller, it seems to close to Ellis I think.  I am easily tongue tied, so I could see me saying things like Eller is Millis.

Carter works well, in that it is a surname like Ellis.

Max is OK, to be honest, it's a name I'm kind of meh about.  It's used a lot where I am.

Peter is kind of like Theodore.  It seems like a totally different style, so I would be surprised to see 2 brothers name Ellis & Peter.

I'll suggest Fletcher, Archer, Oliver, Jasper & Owen. I also thought of Harris, but can't decide if it is too close to Ellis to use.

I agree with all of NAGA's analysis. For classic M- surname, to go with Ellis, names (leaving out some of the super-common options like Michael or Matthew), how about: Martin, Melville (too close to Ellis?), Milton, Marshall, Matheson (potential nn Matt, bonus if you or your partner is a mathematician), Meyer or variant, Mercer, Merrick, Monroe (is this trending totally female now?), Montgomery. There are also all of the Mac- and Mc- names--I imagine there are a lot of dads (and some moms) out there who would love an excuse to name a kid MacGuyver ;-). Are any of these heading in the right direction?

My choices for names that match with Ellis are Bennett and Austin.  All three are medieval forms of longer names: Ellis/Elijah, Bennett/Benedict, and Austin/Augustine.

Ellis is a GREAT name.

I like the idea of Miller, or maybe Meyer. Max is a great name but to me it doesn't really fit with Ellis.  Now maybe Maxwell or Maximus.  Other M name thoughts:

Markus, Miles, Mattias, Mathias, Mitchell, Maclain, Micah, Magnus

Then there's Malakai, but that's my middle son's name so I'm a bit biased.

Before I looked at your list, I though Archer, Conrad, or Calvin

I like the surname/first name style, but it can get tricky to have too many obvious surnames in one family.

I do like Max for you. I also like the idea of Peter.

Theodore/Teddy is a bit off for me, personally, but it might be because I'm not a fan of Teddy. Love Theo, though.

Carter and Miller are just a bit meh to me.

Have you looked for M names or surnames in your family tree?

I will suggest Malcolm. I think Ellis and Malcolm go well together, and I love the nn Mac.
