Need Middle name help for baby boy!

Hoping you can help us with our baby boy's name. We are a bit stumped... I think we have agreed on the first name, B.rody, but we aren't sure if we are sold on our middle name choice. We are pretty open, I think I like the sound of longer (3 syllable) middle names given B.rody is short. Our last name starts with L, and ends in "er," so names like Sawyer, or River don't go well... thanks all!!! We also like the name B.eckham, please let us know if you have a preference and any middle name ideas you might have! Thank you!!!

There seem to be a lot of long boy's names that end in R, like Alexander, Christopher, Xavier, but it sounds like they wouldn't work with your last name. What about Julian, Adrian, or Harrison? All are relatively well-known choices that fit with Brody and your last name. Others that spring to mind are Garrett, Elliot, or Matthew.

Do you prefer classic boy's names, or do you like modern inventions?

Just going by the names you mentioned, and the criteria of 3+ syllables and no 'L' or 'Er' endings, this is a selection of names the NameMatchmaker came up with:

Emerson, Finnegan, Remington, Jamison, Jefferson, Tennyson, Ellington, Harrison, Jacoby, Sullivan, Dorian.

I also think these names could work well with Brody:

Theodore, Gregory, Zachary, Benetton, Maverick, Robinson, Elliott, Gideon, Adrian, Damian, Everett, Edison, Nathaniel, Hamilton, Willoughby, Willison.

Thank you for all of the suggestions! I really like Harrison, but that has been used in our family, and I adore Jamison, but worry about "BJ" initials. Do you all think that a 2 syllable name would work? Like Ashton or Grayson? I do like names that are a bit trendier but think a classic name would also anchor down nicely. I'm trying to sell my DH on Brody Maverick, I like that! Thank you for the suggestions! This baby naming business is fun, but very difficult and much harder for a boy!

With a first name that's actually a surname-turned-given-name, I'd suggest you go with a classic given name in the middle slot, to avoid the "three surnames in a row" effect.

Matthew
Anthony
Michael
Jonathan
Andrew
William
Peter
John

(What is it with this utterly brain-dead spam filter? It took over two dozen tries to get this effing software to accept my suggested list of names. This is a forum ABOUT names; how are we supposed to talk about names if listing them kicks off a so-called spam filter? And the filter demonstrably doesn't prevent spam - the moderators have to delete the same number of spam threads every morning as they always have. I don't have strong enough words for the total and complete lack of basic intelligence demonstrated by Mollom.)

(Furthermore, if a mod deletes a comment, there is the option of marking it as spam. However, when deleting a post -- the primary source of spam on this site -- no such option is given. Not that there's any evidence that reporting would make a difference.)

I agree with avoiding three surnames in a row and luckily there are many three-syllable classic given names that meet the desired criteria. From your list, you can't go wrong with William, but there are many less-used options, too and some great ones have been suggested.

I like the suggestions of Nicholas, Abraham, and Everett from previous posters.  I think a longer name sounds best if your last name is two syllables. I prefer Brody to Beckham.

Other ideas: Alexander, Alistair, Anderson, Benjamin, Calloway, Donovan, Elijah, Jonathan, Killian, Matthias, Nathaniel, Oliver, Samuel, Sebastian, Tobias
