One Week Ago...

Finn, Ace, Kai, Ike, and I welcomed Genevieve Elodie Camille Dillon into the world!

That's right---a girl.  :)  And she is AWESOME.

At birth she weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces---my largest baby so far.  After three super easy textbook deliveries (when my midwife delivered Kai she actually commented that it would be nice if they all went so smoothly), we got to experience some drama with this one, but luckily it seems she got all of that out of the way upon arrival and thus far, she's fairly chill.

We're still toying with what we're actually going to call her.  I think Vivi suits her nicely.  Finn goes back between Vivi, Viv, and Baby G.  Ace calls her Genevieve (can I feed Genevieve?  Can I hold Genevieve?  Genevieve needs her paci!).  Kai immediately wanted to call her Gigi.  Ike typcally calls her "that baby."  He's still not sure this was the best idea his father and I have ever had.  ;)

I'll post her birth story on the announcements board eventually but you guys were so instrumental in helping us decide and this process was so much easier this go round!  I am thankful for all of your help and suggestions!

FWIW, had she been a boy, we went in with either Gideon Raphael or Raphael Otto for our most likely boy choices, but I was 100% going to push for Raphael unless I looked at him and just could not deny he was a Gideon.  I'm actually kind of glad I didn't have to make that choice.  We love both names a lot.

Anyway---I'm recovering from the delivery and enjoying my newest little love. Life just could not be any better!

Congratulations!! Genevieve is "the name that got away" for me, and I'm so happy to see it in your sib-set (between your boys' first and middles and my boys' first and middles, we have two overlaps, and more in your extended list). Thanks so much for the update--I look forward to hearing your birth story, when you have time to post it. Wishing you all good rest and happiness :).

Congratulations! I am just thrilled for you, how exciting to finally get to use a girl name and what a beautiful choice. :D

Glad to hear she's done with drama for now and that you are both home and well. I love your description of the boys' attitudes ("that baby" made me laugh a lot) and as for which nickname will stick as the saying goes "a well loved child has many names"; no reason everyone has to end up with the same thing. ;)

Welcome Genevieve!  Your joy and love for her shine through in your post.  I'm on team Viv(i), but it's also super sweet for her to have different nicknames with various family members.

Congratulations! I'm so pleased you had a girl so you could use the excellent name you've been saving all these years (Genevieve is my favourite name that I can't use, so also delighted to see you use it).

Best of luck with everything and hope to see you on the new website!

I'm so thrilled to hear, austindillon! I'm sorry you got to experience the drama associated with birthing larger babies, but I'm so happy that all's well that ends well! Thank you for the fabulous update and for letting us in on such an enjoyable naming journey!

Congratulations! I'm just swooning over her name, it's gorgeous! Genevieve and Elodie were both very serious contenders for me if either of my kids had been girls, so I'm a little bit jealous but also so happy for you getting to use them! Enjoy your chill baby girl :)

(My friend who also has a Genevieve calls her Vivi, "Vee-vee." My nickname choice probably would have been Evie, which I've grown attached to after so many years using it).
