Sibling names sound too similar?

Hello everyone,

We have a son named Mason and we really like the name Layton. Do these names sound too similar?

I would accidentally call them Maton and Layson with some regularity. Not everyone gets mixed up, however. Will you get mixed up? Will it bother you if you do or if others do? They have similar sounds but don't rhyme, so I'd say this is a close call.

Call "LAAAYTOON!!" through the house and see if Mason answers. :)

The matching syllable count (with the same one stressed) and vowel sounds makes them too close for me.

If Layton if the name you really love, then go for it.

If you are deciding between Layton and something else (say, randomly, Connor), then the similarity between Mason and Layton = your deal-breaker.

I think they are too close. There are also SO many names with the same sounds that are popular right now: Aiden, Cayson, Grayson, Brayden, etc.

What about:

Landon

Logan

Loudon

Lincoln

Lachlan

Lennon

Lawrence

Linden
