Sister for Brigitta
We have a daughter named Brigitta Katherine and are expecting another little girl. We have a very German last name that starts with a B. I love the name Brigitta and want something as pretty and adorable for baby #2. I would like it to have the same Germanic/Austrian feel to it as well. I also like that Brigitta has a cute little nickname (we call her Bree) and would love to have a longer name (which we actually use most of the time) but with the option of a nickname. My current favorite is Anneliese but my husband says no as there is a person at work who has a daughter with that name. Yuck!
I'd love to get suggestions on the perfect name for Brigitta's sister :)

My first thought was of the children in The Sound of Music. One of the girls is Brigitta, and the others are
Liesl
Louisa
Marta
Gretl
I quite like Louisa, and you could use the cute nickname Lulu.
I do like some of these names, but I don't want to be too gimmicky (that family that uses names from the movie...). Good suggestions though!
Former colleagues of mine from Austria are named Ingeborg, universally known as Inge, and Gertraud (Gert with roughly the vowel in air). Others: Adelheid (Heidi, Ada, Adele, Elke), Ulrica (Uli), Bettina (Bette), Hannelore (Lori, Hannie), Ingrid (Inga), Li(e)selotte (Lottie, Lilo), Renate (Rennie), Ottilie (Tillie).
Thanks for the suggestions. I kind of like Bettina, and Bette and Bree go together.
I was going to suggest names along similar lines to Miriam.
My first thought was Anneliese which has been ruled out.
I thought of:
Gretchen (Greta)
Margrethe (Greta,Maggie)
Magdalena (Maggie, Lena)
Franziska (Fran, Frankie)
Selina (Lina)
Johanna (Jo, Josie, Hanna)
Katharina (Kat, Kit, Kate)
Not all of these are strictly German/Austrian but they seem to go wel with Brigitta (which I love, by the way).
