Very undecided! Help please!

We are expecting our 4h child, 3rd boy, and are having a hard time find a name that we're excited about.

I'm usually very decisive and not used to feeling so undecided! And with such a long list still!

Husband and I both like all these names, in roughly this order, but thats just it... we "like" them. Neither of us has any strong feelings about this one!

We currently have Andrew Stephen(Drew), Ryan James, and Michelle Lynn(Mickey).

Middle name will be Thomas. Family name, already decided-easy part!

Ian (But I worry it's too close to Ryan)

Daniel

Eli

Aaron (My personal favorite, but husband just looks at me and says "A-A-ron!")

Nicholas (Husband's favorite, but pushes for nickname "Niko" and I just don't think that fits with our other kids)

Evan

Joel

Logan

Open to new suggestions too!

What about Thomas for the first name? There is no rule that family names must be in the middle.

I think Joel is a great name; it hits the sweet spot of being unusual but familiar.  Daniel fits well with the other kids' names.

Other options: Timothy, David, Bartholomew, Joseph, Peter, Paul, Lawerence. Of these, I think Thomas, Timothy, Peter or Paul is the most likely to appeal to your tastes.

Thomas is my husband's father, and he is very well known in our town. I'd like to avoid anyone being in anyone else's shadow.. Plus both older boys have grandfathers first names for middles..so it kinda is a thing for us :)

Ah.  Thomas is a family name for us as well, but from an older family member who has passed away.  I have considered it both for a first or for a middle name.

I think Nico/Niko (NEE-ko) would work. It's only a nickname, so it doesn't matter so much how it fits with the others (as long as it's not Hansel and Gretel). Mickey and Drew have less common nicknames based on their given names, (I might've expected Andy and Shelly) so Niko is fine. I don't think anyone would look twice at it.

Nicholas and Daniel both work well with your family. I also like Aaron (could spell it Aron?) and I find A-A-Ron to be a bit juvenile... In fact I don't think kids these days would even pick up on it, and if they did it's more a matter of learning to handle the teasing than something to be worried about (it's not rude or the name of a company or anything like that. Calling a kid 'Cola' might be more of an issue).  All the same, if your husband is vetoing it then there are plenty of others to choose from on your list.

All your names are great! With Drew and Ryan, I think Evan and Aaron work best and I like them equally well.  I've known a few Aarons, so the spelling doesn't look odd to me. If the spelling bothers your husband, why not choose Evan since it is very similar to Aaron, which is your favorite. I think Evan would be a great choice.

I think Nicholas goes with Andrew and Ryan, and Nick as a nn would work. I agree that Niko seems off with the other names. The only issue I see is that the nn Nick is close to your daughter's nn Mickey.

I think both Ian & Aaron are too close to Ryan.  Logan doesn't seem as classic as the others.

Any of the others are nice, my favorite is Nicholas.  I don't think Niko is too far off from the other kids' names, especially Drew.

It just occured to me to ask why your husband likes Niko so much.  If it's that he wants a less common nickname than Nick, perhaps you could sell him on Cole?

This was going to be my suggestion too. Drew, Ryan, Mickey, and Cole are great together!

My favorite of your choices if Nicholas (nn Cole). However, if your last name as an S in it, Nicholas Thomas could become a mouthful.

Ian Thomas is the name of a Canadian pop singer, just so you know.  I think all your names are nice and traditional, though I think Daniel fits in best with this sibset.

I hadn't thought of that! That would be perfect! Fits in quite nicely, but still his own name! Thanks!!
