Noah is currently the exact opposite of a rare name: it was the most common baby boy name in the US last year -- by 88 more babies than Liam. This means that if you want a name with a similar feel and "use experience" as your son Liam's name, then Noah may be just right. If you're really looking for rare, however, then you need to look much further down the list.

Liam is on our short list. We also like Jack, Luke, Ryan and Owen. I think Jack and Liam make a good pair and while Jack is top 2-3 in some parts of the world  I think you are in the US where it ranks quite a bit lower. Jack Noah, Jack Mason and Jack Lucas are all great.

That's really interesting that the top ten in Denmark includes so many of the same names as the top ten in the U.S.!

If Kian is pronounced KEY-an, and Liam is the standard (as far as I know) LEE-am, then I think the sounds are too close for brothers -- I know I'd come out with Lian and Kiam all the time.

Matt and Matthew are not currently top 10 around here, but they've been fairly consistently popular, so I know a lot of them of various ages. But Matt would match Liam in being short for a classic masculine name. Others in the same vein: Colin, Cole, Nick; Rick, Rich; (T)ed(dy), Ned; Theo; Nate; and of course the previously mentioned Jack.

As I wrote before, Noah would match Liam in many respects, including length and current level of popularity, so it may actually be a very good choice for you.

I like Aaron the best of the four you listed here. I don't know its history in Denmark, but around here it's what I think of as a "quiet classic" -- it had a bit of a peak circa 1980, but it has always been around, so it really doesn't feel dated.

My first is Liam Jeffrey. Options for our second was Noah, Gavin, or Logan. We chose Logan and everyone comments on how they love their names. It flows so well, Liam and Logan, I call him my Logey Bear, lol. Now I'm pregnant with my third and I have no clue what to name her. I never wanted to go the same first letter of the name route but my husband does. I'm 30wks and still no name. Good luck!!
