Alexa.  I would much prefer Alexandra or Alexandria though.

I like Alexandra but I have a friend with that name so we can’t use it. :(

Alexa seems very similar to Eliana to me (almost the same start and end sounds), so I would prefer Alexis as a little more distinct.

(As an aside, Alexandria is by far my favorite of the femine Alex- names, for the variety of nickname choices and the connection to the Great Library.)

Alexis all the way. Especially because you may not want your daughter’s name to be associated with the Amazon Alexa, just like how you probably won’t want to name your daughter something like Siri.

Alexia is lovely. I had a pen-pal with this name when I was about 8, and I remember thinking it was the most exotic name I'd ever heard :).

It is still pretty close to the Amazon lady—I can imagine their device "hearing" Alexa even when you've said Alexia—so maybe if you have one of their devices or know someone who does you could try it out and see if it's likely to be an issue.

One other thing to be aware of with this name is that it is also a medical Latin term for a kind of brain damage that causes the inability to read or see words. I don't think that's a deal-breaker, but something to know about going in rather than get surprised by later on.

I'll admit that it took me a little while not to think "inability to read" when I encountered my daughter's preschool classmate with this name, but after 3 years of knowing her, it's now just her name and the brain damage rarely (if ever) comes to mind. But I do expect that an Alexia would be stuck constantly saying, "No, I wasn't named after a digital personal assistant. It's Uh-LEX-ee-uh, not Alexa." But being partial to -ia names, I still think it's pretty, depsite the brain damage thing.

It doesn't matter because they will be the same. But Alexis = Amazon to me! Haha
