xkcd: Chicken pox and name statistics

Fun recent name-stats cartoon: https://xkcd.com/1950/

I feel like this is the kind of analysis Laura W is really good at...the first couple of panels even look a little bit like stick-figure versions of BNW charts.

I love it :)

Also a really great example of correlation does not imply causation... being named Sarah or Brian does not *cause* you to get the chicken pox. This is the sort of thing my husband would show in his psych lectures to explain the concept.

That sounds like it would be a fun lecture...of course, I wish any of my professors had used name statistics to illustrate just about anything. Does he ever use the Spurious Correlations website for this lesson? Some of those are just spooky :).

I kept meaning to post about this here, but got distracted by having to replace my phone (it didn't like being dunked in Mother's coffee) and by rockets flying backwards (https://cdn.teslarati.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/spacex-falcon-heavy-double-landing.gif) and/or an orbiting Tesla (https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6651&v=aBr2kKAHN6M).
