Andrei is the Russian/Slavic equivalent of Andre' (minus the I) Another variation is Andrey, which was my given name, but changed by my parents at a young age to Andrei because everyone called me Audrey or Aubry assuming it was a typo'd female name.
You'll typically notice the spelling variations if you watch international sporting events like the olympics. There are other spelling variations from country to country. Polish = Andrej, Andrzej, just a matter of how a language handles the last 1/2 of the name, the "dray", though may be prounounced slightly different.

The I at the end confuses many people... I've been called Audrey, Aubrey, Andrea.
It also proves to be topic of conversation when meeting people in business and life, as people are curious as to it's origin, often only familiar with the Andre' spelling.- Nicknames for Andrei: | Edit
In english - Andy (I don't like it quit using it back in the 80's, it's ok when you're a kid and your schoolmates/pals can't pronounce your name right.) Also Drei.
"Andre the giant" pops up from time to time (after the famous wrestler) as an endearing pet name ever since he became known in the 70's, it's a good natured laugh, since compared to the original Giant, I am tiny in contrast.
