In the Bible, in the Book of Genesis,Asher is the second son of Jacob and Zilpah, and the founder of the Tribe of Asher. Ashar is also a place in Israel. Asher is generally understood to come from the Hebrew word Osher meaning "happy" or "blessing" (See Gen. 30:13). Deuteronomy 33:24 "About Asher he said: "Most blessed of sons is Asher; let him be favored by his brothers, and let him bathe his feet in oil."
