MUCH cuter girl name than boy! like shelby, morgan, leslie. this name has gone girl and i LOVE it!!!
My 6'5" 18 year old son named Avery, named after his godfather and several male family friends, will definitely tell you it is a male name! With all the beautiful girl names in the world, it puzzles why a parent would want their daughter to have a traditionally masculine name! It is a sophisticated male name and not a particularly pretty female name. Sad! My heart goes out to all those girls who will someday wish they had a feminine name.

Avery Cole is my 2 year old boy's name! It's definitely more geared toward boys than girls, I think.

Commentary on the name Avery:
This traditional male name -- a medieval form of Alfred -- has been climbing to an all-time popularity peak for baby boys. The trick is, it's even more common for girls. Once a name starts to turn feminine, parents of boys usually run in the other direction. But lately, favorites like Jordan and Peyton have been bucking the trend. Cross your fingers that elegant Avery joins them as a two-gender standard.
