Origin of the name Cosmo:

From the Greek Kosmas, which is derived from kosmos (order, beauty). The name was borne by the brother of Damianos, both of whom were martyred in 303 under Diocletian. A cult around about them, spreading westward and receiving much attention when the brothers' relics were supposedly found in Milan by St. Ambrose.

Cosmo is the English form of Cosimo which was brought to England in the 18th century by the second Scottish Duke of Gordon, who named his son and successor after his friend Cosimo III de Medici.

Means "order, decency" from the Greek Kosmos. Also a Saint's name. St. Cosmo was martyred with his twin, Damien in the 4th century. They are the patron Saints of physicians.
