Comments and insights on the name Eamon: | Edit

Is pronounced EE-mun (Modern English) like in the words east, easy, eagle and easel.

Alternative is AY-mun (Gaelic).

I dare say AY-mun is the regular pronunciation and EE-mun is the alternative - this is a Gaelic name, not an English one. This is my cousin's name; we live in the US and it is pronounced AY-mun here as well.

Just seconding AY-mun as the standard pronunciation in the US. I know one in their 30s right on down to a 2011 baby. Never come across an Eamon of the EE-mun pronunciation.
