Origin of the name Ike:
Originally a pet form of Isaac (laughter), Ike is also bestowed as an independent given name. It rose in popularity in the U.S. due to its being the nickname of the 34th president, Dwight D. Eisenhower (1890-1969). His campaign slogan of "I like Ike" became household words in the 1950s.
