Personal experiences with the name Jacek: | Edit

I found Jacek by searching Polish names and adore it—although we’ve “Americanized” it by pronouncing “JAY-sek” (often misheard as Jason). My grandfather calls our son by the ‘correct’ pronunciation and he loves it! It completely fits our spirited, compassionate boy and we’ve received buckets of compliments on the name.

Jacek is a Polish name; it's English equivalent is Hyacinth. It's a fairly popular Polish name (I know two between the ages of 30 and 45) in part because of the popular Polish saint (born c. 1185) who is known for bringing the Dominican religious order to Poland.

In 2007 Jacek was the 28th most common name in the Polish population - there were 237,000 men named Jacek. It was especially popular in the 1960 and 1970s. Today it's outside the Top 100.
