Origin of the name Jordan:

Derived from the Hebrew yarden (to flow down, descend). The name is that of the chief river of Palestine, in which Jesus was baptized. Jordan originated as a given name in the Middle Ages, being bestowed upon those baptized in holy water said to be taken from the Jordan River.

In 26 years I have known 3 Jordans. All three of them were very unique, and extremely friendly.

My son's name is Jordan & after 27 years I am happy I choose this name! A few people have spelled it Jordon I am guessing they would spell the Jordan River wrong also. I am very pleased with this name & he didn't mind that it can be a girl's name also. I recommend this name, has a strong character to it.
