My husband wanted to name our son a Norwegian name. We thought it meant "wellspring" when we named him in 1984. In his school years he never met another boy with this name, so he needn't use his last name. It was easy to write and say (pronunciation:chel), but challenging for others to read. Later on he discovered it meant, "cauldron of sacrifice!" It school in Japan, classmates called him 'che ru.'
