My father's first name was Pio. He named me after him but when I was 21, I changed my first name. I did, however, research the name. I found that "Pio" is a name given to boys in atleast 5 languages, Italian, Filipino, Spanish, Samoan and Hawaiian. I am guessing it is possibly used in other Latin and Pacific languages.

Personal experiences with the name Pio: | Edit

I used to be teased by my classmates throughout elementary and high school -- of all places, in Hawai'i. I used to feel a low self-esteem that I had to work hard on my self-confidence. After I changed my name, I regretted that I did not keep it as a part of my new legal name. I still love the name, its meaning and its respectful history.
