I think Slade is a fantastic name. It's strong and masculine and unique without being weird. It's what I named my son and I get nice comments on his name all the time.

I chose this name when I was still pregnant and when he was born I just knew it was his name. Had been all along. We had Brody, Ryun and a few others picked but Slade stood out.

Nicknames for Slade: | Edit

Both nicknames for Slade are different. He gets called 'Slay' now and then but mostly 'Sladey' since he is still a baby.

We call our little guy "Slade-o Potato"

It means 'from the valley' I believe. Although I have read it as 'From the hills'.

Famous real-life people named Slade: | Edit

The only one I know of is actually the first place I heard this name. Slade Smiley from the reality tv show 'The Real Housewives of Orange County'.

There is a character called Amos Slade on the Fox and the Hound.

Slade Wilson is "Deathstroke" - a villian in the DC Comics universe. He abused a young girl in the New Teen Titans comic. :/
