We named our daughter (now 20 months) Allegra. To this day I love the look on people's faces when they hear her name. It's easy to say and spell, but totally unique. I was very worried early on about the allergy medication that was advertised all over the place a few years back, but maybe 2 people have even brought that up ever. I never even see it in ads or on TV anymore, so hopefully it's a brand of the past. Now we need to find a sibling name that is equally special!
We named our daughter Allegra in honor of Allegra Kent. She is now twelve and she LOVES her name. I've only heard one joke about the allergy medication. My father did warn me that my daughter would "hate" me if I named her something unusual like Allegra. He was so wrong! Now he thinks that it is the perfect name for her because it captures her spirit, creativity and intelligence.
