Amni is an amazing name. i named my son amani. his name is amani cash edwards. i tried to think of meeting a person today with that name and i loooooved it. i thought it was sexy and sophistocated.. i adore that name. i'm glad i chose it.

Personal experiences with the name Amani: | Edit

My name is quite obviously Amani. My mother chose it for the Arabic meaning of, desires/wishes. I truly adore my name and, wouldn't want it any other way [ I'm almost narcissistic when it comes to my name) . Some years ago when I started 'googling' everything I discovered Amani also means Peace in Swahili, as well as, Trust in Persian. I've never received bad feedback once I introduce myself, usually it follows, "That's a beautiful name." I prefer it than the name Imani which is Kswahili for faith. Imani personally has become overused in my generation - still a pretty name though. Five letters, so it wasn't hard learning to spell it, nor for other people to spell it. My nickname is Mani or spelled Manie [ Mon-ee ). An old teacher used to jokingly call me " A man eye " So I love my name. It isn't difficult, its short, and simple, yet - presents character, meaning, and beauty. My full name: Amani Faatimah [ Fuh-team-uh ) Abdul-Majeed { Muh-G-eed).
We named our daughter Amani because she was born in an Arab country, but we wanted something that was easy to pronounce in English. Because of the syllable structure and no "strange" sounds, it also works well in French and Asian contexts.

Author Khaled Hosseini mentions in the commentary at 63:01 that the name on the door "Dr. Amani" is his homage to his medical school roommate. He mentions in the documentary "Words from the Kite Runner" also on the DVD that he, himself, was a practicing physician for eight and a half years before choosing to concentrate on writing after 'The Kite Runner' book became successful.
