My name is Anya and while I do think it's pretty, it has caused me more problems than what it's worth. If you're considering naming your child this, think about these things first:

1. Your daughter will get called Onion. I don't know why she will, but it's going to happen... probably more than once or twice.

2. She will get called Anya Lasagna. (This never bothered me but I know a few Anyas who hated it).

3. When she's old enough, it will be used as a pickup line. Example:
Guy: What's your name?
Anya: Anya.
Guy: Really? That's funny. I want to get on ya, too.
This has happened too many times to count.

4. No one will ever pronounce her name correctly... it will usually be Anne-ya.

5. Random people will speak to her in Russian.

It's a really pretty name... but it's not without it's problems...
