This name comes from Hebrew roots (Ariel) meaning "Lioness of God". The "a" at the end is what gives it more of a Spanish sound. It has also been found to be another word for the city Jerusalem.

This is my name. I actually love my name & always have because it is so unique. I am 28 years old & thus far have only met or known of maybe 3 or 4 "arielas" & maybe 6 "ariels" (but none ever were classmates or co-workers, always a friend/daughter of a friend). It has a pretty neat meaning and I have always been complimented on the name especially when pronounced in Spanish which is how my mother intended it but I have had people pronounce it how it is meant & some pronounce it "Air-e-l-uh" which is still fine with me because it is still so different and a rather pretty name I think. :)
