If you name your daughter Bernice she'll probably never meet anyone else with her name. I never did!
48 years and I remain the one and only one I've ever known with my name.
And talk about insight... It's surreal how my father named me Bernice and gave my brother the middle name Charles when he had no idea there was a Hawaiian princess and her husband with the very same names. How could he have known at the time of my birth that I would eventually move to Hawaii and discover the princess and I were born under the same celestial sign, Sagittarius. Coincidence or Dad's Higher Self? Who knows, but I like to think it was all written in the stars and I was that twinkle in my Dad's eye when the heavens sparkled BERNICE across the majestical sky.

I used to be embarrassed of my name when I was young because Hollywood only used it for unattractive characters. My husband is the one who convinced me my name is "sexy",and believe me,the way he says it...IT IS! When I moved to Hawaii and found out the islands' most beloved princess had the same name as me I was proud to be called Bernice. Even my teenage daughter thinks the name is beautiful. She plans on naming her first daughter after me! I love my name now.
