Personal experiences with the name Berta: | Edit

***just wish people would be polite enough to hear how I pronounce the name (bear'-ta) instead of turning it into Roberta, Bertha, or the hard sounding Brr'-da. But, I have noticed those same people can not seem to pronounce any other unusual names correctly either, so I no longer bother to correct them. It was a tough name to have as a child, but like it now that I am an adult.

Berta is the housekeeper on the TV series "Two and a Half Men."
***Yes, and I love her because she is so funny and intelligent, but I want people to know there are two ways to pronounce the name, the way it is pronounced on that show, and the European way, which spelled phonetically sounds like bear-ta. The latter is a softer and more sophisticated and pleasing sound.
***Despite the maid on 2&1/2 men, I am a normal weight for my age, and due to our family genetics, have been on the thin side most of my life.
