My name is Brandi and I have always loved how I was the only one in my class that didn't have a common name! Like Michael L Michael S Michael P etc...i never had to use my last name, the only problem I had was when people ALWAYS spell my name with a -y rather than an -i...I have just gotten used to it! I will definitely give my child a unique and one-of-a-kind name!

My name is Brandi...and the only thing uncommon about it is the spelling. In my class in grade school, we had, in addition to me, a Brandy, a Brandie, and a Brandee. That's four students out of roughly a hundred. Take away the boys, say it's 4 out of around 51 girls. Nothing rare there. It's pretty dated, as well. Someone who had never seen me was able to accurately guess my age within a year, based on the proximity of my birth to the release of the song "Brandy, What a Fine Girl" by Looking Glass. Oh, also, I've known four dogs named Brandy/i/ie/ee in my life. Talk about a trendy name. Thanks, Mom.

My name is Brandi. I guess being named after an alcoholic beverage isn't the worst fate one could suffer. As far as the song "Brandy" goes, she doesn't exactly have a great existence bartending and lusting after some sailor who is probably gay. (not that there's anything wrong with that) I always thought the name had sort of a bimbo connotation. I have also met a few dogs named Brandi. In my case, my father is responsible for giving me the dubious honor of being Brandi. Thanks, Dad!

My name is also Brandi, and I really haven't had any negative experiences with it. I have only known one Brandy in my life (I was born in 1990) and have never had anyone comment on the fact that I was named after alcohol. The name is normal enough that people don't look at you funny when you're introduced but rare enought that you're not like Jessica or Sarah. Most people have never heard of the song, but from those who have I hear an occasional "Brandi, you're a fine girl" which is really not a problem for me.
