This is the original Gaelic version of the name "Bridget". It's been anglicized to an extent to "Brigid", but "Brighid" is the real deal. It has a kind of modern but historical ring to it that I think is beautiful.

Brighid in song, story & screen: | Edit

Brighid was the gorgeous, whip-smart daughter of the Dagda in Irish mythology. There is also a St. Brighid (usually called Bridget), but evidence suggests that she was a variation of the mythological figure rather than a real person -- a not-so-moral way of getting those Irish heathens to convert!
