Comments and insights on the name Bronte: | Edit

Rare but found in Australia from time to time. It is much more popular now than it was ten years ago in Victoria, Australia. Not as popular in the State of New South Wales and that could be due to the fact that there is a beach and a suburb of Sydney named Bronte.

According to the baby name book "Cool Names" by Pamela Redmond Satran and Linda Rosenkrantz, Bronte is 'cooler' than the names Bryn and Brianna.

Meanings and history of the name Bronte: | Edit

Probably derived from the Bronte sisters, the famous authors (e.g. Charlotte Bronte).

Baby name books where I have been lucky enough to find the name Bronte relate the name not only to the Bronte sisters but also as Teutonic in origin and meaning Thunder. This suits our Bronte very well!
