I am Brooke Erin. I was born in 1970 and lived in a small town and I was the only person with the name Brooke and I have a brother Brock Evan. when I was in Jr High and High school I hated having a different name, I wanted a name like all the other girls but after high school I liked having a different name, usually didnt have to use my last name, they just knew me. I sent a letter to Brooke Shields and got a post card back " to Brooke From Brooke", I still have it!
My family called me Brookie,,, my employees I have call me Brookie, still cracks me up because my grandmother still calls me that too.
It's my name, so I am totally biased. I've grown to love it, though as a child I wanted a more common name. My last name is one syllable, and it always bothered me that my name was only 2 syllables long. My middle name is Elizabeth, but people rarely use middle names.
Dito...it's my name and my last name is one syllable and that ALWAYS bothered me. And your right...as I've gotten older I have learned to love it. I was born in 78 and it was VERY rare then.

My middle name is Brooke, but it is the name I go by. I really like my name but a common thing to happen is that people will spell it Brook. And I say no, there's and e. Like Brooke with an e. And they say it is like Anne with an e.
I named my daughter Brooke. She was born in 1980 and back then it wasn't a common name. People used to ask me if it was an old family name and comment on how well they liked it.
My first name is Brooke and many people my age and yonger (I'm 16) seem to have it as a middle name.
My middle name is Brooke and it has always been the name that I have gone by also. Brooke has been a family name that has been used for both males and females for many, many years. I was born in 1950 and no one had ever heard the name before. I used to be called "river", "creek" or even Brookie which I hated. It wasn't until Brooke Shields came along that the name started to catch on and increase in popularity. My granddaughter is Madison Brooke. I have a male cousin by the name of Brooke and another cousin's daughter is named Brooke. I was actually named after one of my aunts who was Eleanor Brooke. Many people have remarked over the years about what a beautiful name it is. I came to appreciate it so much more when I became an adult.
