Comments and insights on the name Bryony: | Edit

my daughters name is Bryoni this is another spelling

It's my Internet handle. I've always paid a lot of attention to the topics about "if you were named something else, what would it be?"... I FEEL like a Bryony; not totally sure why. And the name shares some letters with my real (perfectly acceptable) one, so it doesn't seem like that much of a stretch. I do like that bryonies are pretty but can be poisonous if eaten! Sort of a nice parallel to my personality (though I'd prefer that nobody try to eat me, thanks very much).

Personal experiences with the name Bryony: | Edit

My name is Bryony pronounced Brian-ee with the nickname of Bree. While it's a bit annoying that people really stumble over this easily pronounceable name, along with "you were supposed to be a boy, right?" jokes, I really do love my name. I especially like the fact that I've never met another one face to face. Also, my name is always an ice-breaker when meeting new people, or at job interviews, etc.

My friend named her daughter this and pronounces it BREE uh NEE, not brian-y, which sound funny, and reminds me of brian. It is a cute name to use if you want the nickname bri but don't want to use the outdated Sabrina or Gabriella. It is also very young sounding and reminds me of Avery.
