Carlota was the name of my great-grandmother who was born in Mexico during the time of Maximiliano and Carlota (Emperor Maximilian and Empress Charlotte). Alas, I do not know if she was named after the Empress.
Also, my aunt was given the name Ana Maria Carlota; Ana Maria was the maternal grandmother and Carlota was her paternal grandmother.
