The meaning is Greek, "She who entangles men"

This name has become a symbol of the archetypal character of someone whose prophetic insight is obscured by insanity, turning their revelations into riddles. In Greek myth, Cassandra was granted the gift of prophecy by the god Apollo. When she spurned him, while he could not take back his gift, he changed it so that she would never be believed by anyone who heard her prophecies.

The Cassandra Syndrome is a fictional condition that describes someone who can see the future, but can't do anything about it.
