Comments and insights on the name Cecily: | Edit

Cecily is a pretty name that fits in perfectly with current naming styles. The sound of the name is similar to the incredibly popular Emily, Natalie and Avery. Cecily strikes the perfect balance with its modern sound and charming old-fashioned appeal, and is a great 'compromise name' for parents with vastly different taste in names.

Cecily is often considered the female equivalent of Cecil. However, the masculine name Cecil is a surname derived from the Welsh given name Seissylt. Seissylt ultimately stems from the Roman name Sextus, meaning "the sixth child".
