In America, this name is very rarely pronounced correctly. It is should sound like "Shondra". People who give this name to their children more often then not do not take the time to research the correct spelling. Amazing!

My little sister's name is Chandra, a lot of people pronounce is Sandra or CHAN-dra, I have never know why.

This name was a killer for me to learn how to spell when I was 5. People also always assume I am African American, I work in the corporate world and it has had a negative impact on job searches, which has been an eye opener for me, and has adjusted my view of other races.
