There was an old Jimmy Buffet song called "Delaney Talks to Statues" about a girl and her father that I loved. I loved the name since I was a girl, and am intrigued by its rising popularity now.

That's where I found the name as well! I loved it and named my first daughter Delaney back in 98.

This is my daughter's middle name. She is named after her great-grandparents last name. We spell it with a capital "L", because that's how the last name is spelled.

My last name is Delaney and it isn't spelled with a capital L. I always loved my last name so I will probably use it as my child's middle name if I should have a girl.

My name is Delaney. When my mother was pregnant with me she said "If the baby is a boy, the name will be Dylan. And if it's a girl, Delane." Then later she came up with "Delaney". At first she thought I was the only one with that name because of its originality. When I was in third grade, I ended up in the same class with another girl named Delaney. I was shocked! And so were my parents! It's irony was hard to believe. But today, being 15 years old I've noticed the name being more common around where I live in Ohio. I'll hear people say they named their child's middle name Delaney or a last name will be Delaney. My middle name is Rae and I'm about 35% Irish and Delaney is an Irish name. Questions? Feel free! :]

My first name is Delaney and sometimes its ok...I mean people who have never heard it before seem to really love it a lot and I am one of the only "Delaneys" that I know, all of the ones that I have met before have been younger than me (I'm 23) so I guess that this name is on the rise! Also I agree with the above person the name is Irish (my mom is Irish and picked it for that reason) and she always told me it meant decendent of the challenger (very cool). So far in my life the name has been alright and its def. and original
