Comments and insights on the name Delia: | Edit

Our daughter is named Delia and we have received many compliments. Sometimes people confuse it with Amelia when we say it, but once they get it right they don't forget.
I'd like to point out that you could also say this name as "Dahl-ya" (Dahlia) or "Dah-lee-a" which is beautiful as well.

Personal experiences with the name Delia: | Edit

Delia's is a brand of clothing and a popular catalog featuring trendy clothes for teen girls. It's hard for me not to think of the catalog when I hear the name.

There's also a chain of dry cleaners in California called Delia's Cleaners. As a Delia myself I have never experienced difficulty based on these associations. The Johnny Cash song, about the murder of a Delia, is more upsetting to me, but no reason not to choose the name. I've always loved being named Delia!
