being an Elyssa I can tell you that I pronounce mine as E - lee - sa. and whoever hears it cannot spell it and whoever sees it cannot say it. its a bind.

I am Elyssa. My Mom saw the name in the TV guide and liked it so she decided she was going to name her first daughter the name Elyssa. As most of you have said no one knows how to pronounce it and spell it. I have grown up most of my life being called Elise. I pronounce my name (ee-lys-uh). I have always like the name because it is different and not like my little sisters name Amy. I really don't know much about the name or many others with the name.

My daughter is Elyssa Laine, we liked the name, but not with the traditional A spelling.

I am Elyssa. I feel like I am the only one as I have never come across another person with the same spelling. I have only recently found the name in a babybook with meanings. I have a harsh surname though and I am not found of the two together. I would love to know other Elyssa's, famous or characters. I would love to know where my mum picked it from

I'm Elyssa (ee-LIHS-uh) Christine - always disliked my name as a kid, but am glad now to not be a Tiffany or Samantha like I desperately wanted. No one can seem to spell or pronounce it correctly, so I usually go by Lyss. My husband happily discovered that Elyssa spelled backwards is like "Lassie" in pig latin. So if that doesn't make it a great name, I don't know what could.

I named my daughter Elyssa in 2004. We pronounce it El-lys-sa. I loved the name Alyssa but didn't something so popular so my husband suggested using an E. It's more popular than I thought, oh well.
