I feel that this name portrays a feeling of constance (forEVER) and balance. It's unusual as a name which makes it somewhat exotic but so commonly used that it seems more comfortable to speak it.

"Ever" is an old southern spelling of the name "Eva" (not EEva, but Ehvah) Just say it with a really bad southern drawl and you'll get the idea. It could be the Scottish thing too, though I'd never heard that before until Milla Jovovitch, but I know that this is how I got the name Ever. My grandmother's name was Ever ("Ehevah") and she got it legally changed to Eva as an adult because people called her Ever.

Also this is a pretty common name for hispanic boys. They either spell it Ever or Eber, but they pronounce it the same way.
