When I was little I wanted to have a "normal" name but as I have grown up I have come to embrace having a unique name in America. Part of me is very interested to go to Europe and Australia and not get a 2nd glance at my name where as here in the United States I know when people take a minute before they say name that its probably mine.
Most people absoultely love my name and no matter what it is memorable! I am extremely happy with my name now :)
I love my name even though I'm from the US and most people aren't familiar with it. I've always liked that its unique and upon meeting people I usually get a comment about how pretty or unusual the name Gemma is. The only thing that's ever bothered me was that lots of people say it at first with a hard G. I mean, we say gem and gemstone with a j sound, why would Gemma be different?
