Growing up as a Jami, I always found my name boring and always wished it were "nickname-able." As I get older, I've been learning to appreciate the fact that it's relatively uncommon in my age group and area. However, having to spell my first name constantly to every doctor and teacher and bank and any kind of official is beyond annoying (especially because I have to do the same with my last name), and I also wish my name had a prettier meaning and more solid origin.
