Personal experiences with the name June: | Edit

My grandmother's name is June, and although it seems old-fashioned, I recently heard a woman call her little girl June, so it's making a comeback!

My middle name is June. I never really felt any connection to it, except that I knew there was a singer from my parent's generation named June Allison. I'm a singer so I thought that was okay... Then I found realized that there is a Goddess Juno! She is a very strong female :) Every since then I have liked it a lot. Also, a lot of important things have happened in my life in the month of June, like getting married!

My name is June, and I was born in June.

Meanings and history of the name June: | Edit

The Roman poet Ovid provides two etymologies for June's name in his poem concerning the months entitled the Fasti. The first is that the month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter and equivalent to the Greek goddess Hera, whilst the second is that the name comes from the Latin word iuniores, meaning "younger ones," as opposed to maiores ("elders") for which the preceding month May is named (Fasti VI.1-88)
