I just gave birth to my second daughter and we named her Kairi. At this point in her young life the most common mispronunciation she gets is kaiwee from her 19-month-old sister. I have had a lot of friends and relatives ask how it's pronounced since they've only seen the spelling on Facebook and most of them get it right except for the few Carrie's she gets.

Our daughter is named Kairi. She loves to hear someone else has her name. I hope when she gets older she will find it is a good thing that her name is not so common. She also hates it when people say her name wrong. She is very quick to correct people. KAIRI is a very pretty name my name is Kari and people always mispronounce my name they say Keri , my name sonds like CAR. I love it so much thnks to my Dad naming me Kari.

My husband asked me about the name Kairi when we found out we were pregnant with our daughter. I fell in love with it immediately, even though he wanted to name her that after the Princess in the Kingdom Hearts game. We found out the meaning of the name Kairi, that it means song or melody in French. We had wanted her middle name to be Rain, and we felt that the meaning of melody along with Rain was very fitting! Kairi ended up being born during a severe thunderstorm complete with torrential rains and hail. It was very soothing to watch during her labor, so the meaning of melody, and her middle name, Rain took on a new meaning! Kairi is now almost 4, and her name fits her very well. She loves her name, and everyone that hears it says it is a very beautiful and unique name. A lot of people have a hard time spelling it, but all of her teachers and people close to her caught onto it very quick!

My niece is named Kairi. This name is prone to mispronounciation by school teachers and strangers as they tend to pronounce it like Carrie instead of Kie-ree.
- I have a daughter named Kairi and people do mispronounce it a lot and I always have people asking me if her name is Kylee. I have to tell them like Kylee but with an 'R.'
My Granddaughter's name is Kairi Skye and the name is almost as beautiful as she is, she is 1 1/2 years old. The name is a new name and sounds refreshing and everyone should get used to it because soon it will be the number one name for girls, just wait and see. Everyone sure does have a heck of a time pronouncing it, but that is the fun of it and because the name is unique; she will grow up knowing she is unique too.

My name is Kairi and I am Estonian. It is a very popular name from Estonia actually, not Japan. It has been a popular since the 50's, maybe even earlier. I do have trouble with the name in English. Most common misprounanciation would be Carrie and with spelling I tend to get "Kyre"...awful. I am 25 and wouldn't change my name if I had the choice, love my name! My middle name is Helena and I've gotten a lot of great comments about my full name.

My daughter loves her name but she loves her nick name even better. My husband since the day she was born has called her Rikai pronounced "Ri - Kai" She always tells everyone " My name is Kairi but my daddy calls me Rikai"

This name became very popular with the release of the Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts 2 video games. In the game, one of the seven Princesses is named Kairi. Well-known actress, Hayden Panettierre, voices this character.

There is also a famous dive location in the Maldives, called "Kairi Beyru Thila."

There are many Kingdom hearts games out now and Kairi continued to be a important character from it. I named my daughter from that character because she was born the day Kingdom hearts two was released and it was my favorite game at the time.
