In Greek, it means "good." The fuller version is Calliope, who in Greek mythology was one of the 9 Muses, the attendants of Apollo. The Muses' father was Zeus and their mother Mnemosyne (Memory). Calliope and Apollo had a son, Orpheus, who was gifted with the lyre. In mythology, he was allowed to return to the Underworld to bring back his love, Eurydice, but he turned around to watch her walk out and as punishment she was kept by Hades.
