Comments and insights on the name Katelyn: | Edit: As far as I'm aware, and I'm Irish myself and live in Ireland, Katelyn isn't so much borrowed from Caitriona, but from "Kathleen" or "Cathleen" (spelt Caitlin in Irish - the 2nd "i" being an "ee" sound .) When the famine took hold in Ireland and the Irish were forced to flee over to America in those "coffin" ships and disembarked in Ellis Island etc. the name would have been "Cathleen/Kathleen" being spelt in Irish as "Caitlin" - but over the years, with it being mis-spelt and Americanised - it has become "Katelyn". I prefer the original name "Kathleen" myself!
