Adding another vote for "Law-ren." I believe it's a legitimate pronunciation because, well, that's my name, and that's how my family pronounces it! I've long accepted that people will call me "Loren" though. I think the name "Lauren" is lovely and it flows, and the cursive "L" is so fun to make in my signature. People generally know how to spell and pronounce it (except for the LAW/LOR-en argument). I don't think it makes me sound too young or too old.

I am named Lauren and I am southern. My mother pronounces it LORE-en and my father pronounces it LAW-ren and they never even realized that they pronounced it differently until I pointed it out! I think the pronunciation difference is so subtle that most people don't even notice.

I have always loved the name Lauren. Lauren's are the sweetest people on the earth and make the most fantastic friends.

I do not agree that LAW-rin is a legitimate pronunciation. All the Laurens I know pronounce it LORE-in.

Everybody I have known including my daughter is pronounce LAW-rin!

I think it's geographic...LAW-rin in the south....LORE-in everywhere else!

I live in the south and pronounce my name LORE-in. That's just a stereotype.

I personally can't hear a difference between LORE-in and LAW-rin. Maybe it's just the way we pronounce "law" in New York, but that's one word I haven't been corrected for in other states so I doubt it. Seriously, say it fast and it's the same. I mean maybe there's a subtle difference but it's nearly imperceptible. It's like my friend who spells her name Torre instead of the more common Tori. The syllables are Tor-ree instead of Tor-ee, but you cant hear the double r when you say it fast. Unless you pronounce it syllable by syllable it doesnt matter in either name.
*****I noticed the person beneath me (in "personal experiences")considers LAW-rin to sound like LAR-in, so maybe it is my accent. Sorry!I have a male doctor with the first name Lauren.

My name is Lauren and in Australia we pronounce it differently to Laura, like Laura is LORE-a, Lauren is LOH-rren. I actually like the American pronounciation of my name better. Australia also has the nicknames of Loz and Lozza which I have luckily mostly avoided. I do like my name despite it being so popular, like a top 10 name when I was born, but I've noticed it's been dropping in popularity fast lately. Does this mean Lauren is dated now?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My name is Lauren and people pronounce it incorrectly all the time. The vowels "au" make an aw sound as in fault, gaunt, fraud, launch, pause, daughter, auction, faucet etc. Lauren is to be pronounced Law-wren; but those of us who are named Lauren certainly have heard and accepted that many people will pronounce it Lor-in.- Personal experiences with the name Lauren: | Edit
My name's Lauren and in England we pronounce it LOH-RIn, I dont like it as it's way too common. MY nicknames Laurie though, I don't mind that as much.
I say my name Law-rin (or Lar-in) but everyone mispronounces it Lor-in.

I agree, my name is Law-rin, not Lor-in (the males spelling and pronunciation), however, my mom did spell my name when I was born LaurAn, I have no idea what she was thinking, people called me Law-ran, we had it change!

My name is Lauren and I pronounce my name Lor-in. Lor-in is not a males spelling/pronuciation. Anyways, I hate it when people call me Law-rin. I feel like strangling them. It's Lor-in. I love my name and I would NOT change it. I like the spelling of Lauren not of Lorin or Lawren. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the flip side, I don't like it when people call me "Lor-in." But I've learned to live with it rather than correct them. I do get called "Laura" from time to time, but usually brush it off.- Nicknames for Lauren: | Edit
