"Layla" is the name of Derek and the Dominos song released in 1972 on the album "Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs". It was Eric Clapton's nickname for Pattie Boyd Harrison, after the Leila in the Arab love story "Layla and Majnun". Clapton felt his love for Pattie was hopeless, like Majnun's love for Layla, because she was married to his best friend, George Harrison. He wrote this song for her.
In 2005 "Layla" placed at #27 in Rolling Stones 'Greatest 500 rock songs of all time' List.
There is a Layla mentioned in Flyleaf's song "Fully Alive".
