Mahalia gets commented on all the time because of it's sound. It's a very island-y name. It mostly gets asked if it's Hawaiian but it's also Filipino. I like this name because it's not common and it's beautiful. It often gets asked how to pronounce it. There's many ways but I prefer maa-haa-lea. Say it smoothly so it's not cracky. What I mean is don't say the ha part louder or faster thanthe rest.

I was once told that Mahalia meant Love, Joy, Happiness and Prosperity. Although I have searched the Internet and never found anything which proves this claim. I most certainly believe this to be true as no one actually knows the true origin of this name. The meanings are as beautiful as the name itself and do nothing but give it much deserved justice.
