My daughter is named Maia. We pronounce it My-ah. People always spell and & pronounce it incorrectly. Even her teachers still get it wrong after all this time and call her Mia. People ask us if we made mistake with spelling it Maia. Did we not mean Maria, or Mia or Maya. When she started school they had labeled everything 'Mia' . When I asked them to correct it the principal argued with me that I must have made a mistake when picking her name.
