Personal experiences with the name Mairead: | Edit

My sister is named Mairead. When we were kids, she had a lot of trouble explaining the pronunciation of her name to people. We started saying, "it rhymes with parade," but it was still a pain. As adults, though, I think it is really pretty.

I know a Mairead who also says "It rhymes with parade". It worked until someone got confused between "parade" and "promenade", and called her "Momenade".
